Racing
As our name suggests the Barbados Cruising Club has tended to focus mainly on simply having fun and messing about in boats. In the past nearly all sailboat racing in Barbados
took place at the Barbados Yacht Club. Over the last few years with the massive expansion of the club there has been a renewed interest in racing both yachts and dinghies. Cruising Club members are free to enter Races organised by the Barbados Sailing Association and the Barbados Yacht Club. A BCC member on the podium collecting a trophy is now a common sight after a regatta. With the acquisition of club dinghies, members have started taking part in the national dinghy championships whether or not they own a boat.
The Barbados Cruising Club is now actively involved in sailboat races. We are host to one of the island's biggest sailing events of the year the Mount Gay Rum Round Barbados Race in January. As well as taking part in the main Mount Gay Regatta, the island's biggest sailing event in May,
BCC members have been key to establishing the Cruising Class B "bimini class". You will see many BCC members wearing the much coveted Mount Gay red caps.
In addition the Barbados Cruising Club hosts its own regatta late in the sailing year each July. Details can be found on the Sailing calendar.
Whether or not you have a boat, you will be welcome to come and race with us be it as "rail meat" on a yacht or as a skipper in one of the dinghy races.
