Learning To Sail At The Barbados Cruising Club
The can't be many better places to learn how to sail than the safe confines of Carlisle Bay. If you capsize or fall overboard the water is warm and it's all part of the fun. The Club is home to many experienced sailors, always happy to give you a hand and show you the ropes. But like all sailing clubs we also have plenty of novices, some of whom spend more time in the water than on top of it. Our members are always happy to take out novices on their own boats, or with a little advance warning, on the club dinghies. Their enthusiasm is contagious and you'll soon have the sailing bug.

You don't need to own a boat to start sailing, and we're here to help. We're committed to helping you get afloat and it doesn't have to cost a fortune. Formal sailing courses are run by the Barbados Optimist Dinghy Association and The Barbados Sailing Association. Check the links for more information, or just ask, we'll be happy to put you in touch.

The club offers members a 10% discount on the after schools programme run by LRN 2 Sail. This progamme run by internationally qualified sailing instructor Isaac Brown, consists of 10 sailing lessons run on weekday afternoons at the club. Although aimed at children grown ups are more than welcome to contact Isaac for an 'after work adults club' too. There is also limited availibility for Saturday lessons at the club. If you are interested in learning to sail or have children who would like to learn to sail please contact LRN 2 Sail directly.

We all know that new sailors are the lifeblood of the club and the Cruising Club is always happy to help with getting you started.
